County of Two Hills: Agri-Food Growth & Investment Readiness

A proposed approach to strengthen rural Alberta’s agricultural value chain and prepare the region for new private-sector investment.

The opportunity

Agricultural producers and businesses need practical solutions for processing capacity, transportation, storage, workforce availability and access to markets. This concept proposes a coordinated assessment of those barriers, followed by an actionable investment-readiness strategy for the County of Two Hills.

What the proposed project would deliver

  • Engagement with producers, processors, logistics providers and other local stakeholders.
  • Identification of gaps in processing, transportation, storage, labour and market access.
  • Evidence-based opportunities for value-added agriculture and agri-food investment.
  • A prioritized action plan to support partnerships, funding applications and investment attraction.

Illustrative project budget

$220,000 proposed project budget. The proposal examines potential funding pathways, including NRED and PrairiesCan. Funding availability, eligibility and contributions require confirmation; no partner commitment is implied.

From research to investment readiness

Examples of agri-food investment elsewhere in Alberta demonstrate the importance of infrastructure, market demand, coordinated partnerships and clear investment propositions. The proposed work would translate local business evidence into a practical strategy for the Two Hills region.
